The Laced Moray Eel (Gymnothorax favagineus), also known as the Leopard Moray, is one of the most striking inhabitants of coral reefs across the Indo-Pacific. Its beautifully patterned body, resembling lace or leopard spots, is a visual treat for divers and underwater photographers alike. This eel is typically found hiding among crevices or caves in coral reefs, with only its head protruding, waiting for prey to pass by.

Reaching lengths of up to 3 meters, the Laced Moray is one of the larger moray species. Despite its fearsome appearance, this eel is generally not aggressive toward humans unless provoked. However, with its strong jaws and sharp teeth, it is an efficient predator, feeding primarily on fish, crustaceans, and occasionally cephalopods.
